Air-Fryer Salmon Bites in Pineapple Bowl Recipe

Ingredients

For the salmon bites:

  • 2 (4-oz.) Salmon fillets
  • 1 tsp of sweet paprika
  • 1/2 tsp of dried cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp of kosher salt
  • 1/3 tsp of black pepper
  • A drizzle of Olive oil

For the Pineapple Bowl and Salsa:

  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup of mango, peeled and chopped
  • ¼ cup of avocado, peeled and chopped
  • 3 Tbsp of red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp of cilantro, chopped
  • ¾ tsp of salt, divided
  • ¼  tsp of chili powder
  • lime juice from one lime

For the Pineapple Rice:

  • 1 cup of canned coconut milk
  • ½ cup of long-grain white rice, rinsed
  • ¼ cup of water
  • ½ tsp of crushed red pepper

Instructions

Prepare and Air-Fry the Salmon Bites:

  • Dry the salmon with paper towels and cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the sweet paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  • Season the salmon bites with this mix of spices, then drizzle with olive oil. Heat your air fryer to 400F.
  • Put the salmon bites in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through. Cover with aluminum foil and set aside.

Prepare the Pineapple Bowl and Salsa:

  • Start by cutting your pineapple in half lengthwise. Use a sharp knife to cut into and around the edge, about 1/2 inch from the peel. Cut out the core and toss it.
  • Cut the remaining pineapple into squares. Using a spoon scoop out the pineapple pieces.
  • Mix the mango, avocado, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and chili powder in a separate medium bowl and set aside.

Prepare the Pineapple Rice:

  • Mix the coconut milk, water, and salt in a small saucepan. Over medium-high heat, bring the mix to a boil.
  • Once the coconut milk is boiling, stir in the rinsed rice and lower the heat. Cover the pot and let it cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the rice is soft and all the coconut milk is absorbed.
  • Add the pieces of pineapple and the crushed red pepper. Let the rice sit for a few minutes so the flavors can meld. Use a fork to fluff the rice before you serve it.

Assemble the Pineapple Bowls:

  • Place the pineapple halves on a serving platter. Separate the rice mixture between the pineapple halves and top each with the air-fryer salmon bites and salsa.

Tips & Recipe Variations

Choosing the Proper Pineapple: When selecting a pineapple, look for one that is heavy for its dimensions and has a sweet, fragrant smell at the base. The leaves should be green and look fresh. This will ensure you have a ripe and sweet pineapple for your dish.

Air-Fryer Cooking: Don’t overcrowd the basket when cooking salmon bites in an air fryer. Salmon pieces should be in a single layer to ensure that they cook evenly.

Serve Right Away: For the best flavor and texture, serve the dish immediately after assembling it. The heat of the salmon and rice against the cool, fresh salsa makes a comforting contrast.

Level of spiciness: If you want more heat, add more cayenne pepper to the salmon seasoning or diced jalapenos to the salsa.

Extra Toppings: You can add more toppings to your pineapple bowls if you want to. The dish could be made more interesting by adding some shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or even a drizzle of tangy yogurt sauce.

Grilled Pineapple Bowls: You could lightly grill the pineapple bowls before filling them to give them a little extra flavor. This will give the dish a nice smoky taste.

FAQs

Can I make this recipe with a different kind of fish?

Yes, you can use other kinds of fish like Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi, cod, tuna, shrimp, halibut, or tilapia instead of salmon. Just make sure to change the cooking time in the air fryer because different types of fish may need different cooking times.

What if I don’t have an air fryer?

You can bake your salmon bites in the oven if you don’t have an air fryer. Set your oven to 400F (200C), put the salmon bites on a baking sheet, and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until your salmon is cooked through.

Can I use pineapple from a can instead of fresh pineapple?

For the best taste and presentation, use fresh pineapple, primarily since it serves as a bowl. But if you can’t find fresh pineapple, you can make the salsa with canned pineapple and serve the dish in regular bowls.

What can I do with the pineapple leftovers?

Pineapple can be used in a lot of different ways. You can put it in smoothies, fruit salads, or even grill it for a sweet and smoky dessert.

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Breast Recipe

Ingredients you’ll need

Frozen chicken breasts: These are the real stars of the show! For this recipe, you don’t need to thaw the chicken, which is super easy. Don’t forget to freeze each breast separately so they don’t stick together. By freezing each piece separately, you can make sure that each one cooks evenly in the air fryer.

Olive Oil: In this recipe, a little bit of olive oil goes a long way. It not only gives the chicken breasts a beautiful golden crust on the outside, but it also improves the flavor and speeds up the cooking process.

Seasonings: We are talking about salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika here. When you mix these spices together, you get a spectacular rub that gives your frozen chicken breasts a burst of flavors.

Salt and pepper are used as a basic seasoning base. Garlic and onion powders add a savory depth, and paprika adds a smoky sweetness. This combination is what makes your air fryer frozen chicken go from simple to simply amazing.

How Long Should I Cook Chicken Breasts in an Air Fryer

Air frying frozen chicken breasts is a quick and straightforward process, but it does hinge on a few essential factors. As a rule of thumb, you should expect a cook time of approximately 23-30 minutes at 360°F. This, nevertheless, can vary based on the chicken breast size and shape, the degree of its frozenness, and your air fryer’s power.

Regardless of the variables, the ultimate goal is to achieve a safe internal temperature throughout the chicken breasts. According to the USDA, that’s at least 165°F (74°C) for poultry. To ensure this, it’s advisable to use a trustworthy meat thermometer, taking readings at multiple points to account for possible uneven cooking.

Remember, when it comes to frozen chicken, thorough cooking isn’t just about taste; it’s a matter of safety!

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Breast Recipe

Want a juicy chicken breast but forgot to thaw? No worries! With this foolproof Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Breast recipe, you’ll have a delicious, juicy meal in no time. Quick, easy, and irresistibly tasty – it’s a mealtime success! Let’s start cooking!

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen chicken breast (skinless and boneless)
  • 1 Tbsp of Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp of Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp of paprika
  • 1 tsp of Salt
  • 1 tsp of Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Start by turning your air fryer on and heating it to 360°F (or 180°C).
  • Take the frozen chicken breasts out of their packaging and put them in a large bowl or on a flat plate.
  • Pour some oil on top, then sprinkle on the seasoning mix. Make sure to pat the chicken with the oil and seasonings to ensure they are all covered.
  • Now, put your chicken breasts in the air fryer basket. If you’re cooking more than one, spread them out in a single layer so they don’t touch each other. This makes cooking more even.
  • Set the timer on your air fryer and cook the chicken breasts at 360°F (or 180°C) for 23 to 30 minutes (depending on the thickness of your chicken breasts, see article above) and flip the chicken halfway through. The key is to make sure that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (or 74°C) so that they are fully cooked and safe to eat.
  • Remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer when they are done cooking. Wrap them in foil and give them 7-8 minutes to rest. This lets the chicken’s juices settle, which makes it even more tender and tasty. Enjoy!

History of Jamaican Patties

British colonists brought the minced beef-filled Cornish pastry to the island, where the Jamaican patty started. Over time, the Jamaican patty has changed thanks to the creativity of the Caribbean diaspora.

Now, Jamaican beef patties are the most popular fast food on the island and the most wanted snack. One of the most popular lunch or midday snack combinations is one or two patties with a refreshing, ice-cold drink.

Juici Patties and Tastee Patties stand out because they have some of the best patties on the island of Jamaica.

Ingredients and Key Notes

Please look at the recipe card at the bottom of the page for a full list of ingredients, amounts, and instructions.

For the Ground Beef Filling:

  • Ground Beef: Choose the type you like best. Lean ground beef makes a healthier, less greasy filling, while regular ground beef adds a richer flavor.
  • Yellow onion: Gives a mild sweetness and depth of flavor. You can replace it with white or red onions that have been finely chopped.
  • Escallion: Adds a bright, mild onion flavor. It is also known as a green onion or spring onion and should be finely chopped.
  • Thyme: Thyme is a fresh, fragrant, and flavorful herb with earthy, minty, and slightly lemony notes. It is an essential ingredient in Jamaican cooking.
  • Scotch Bonnet Pepper: Adds a fruity, spicy heat; it’s finely chopped and optional. Replace with habanero peppers or other kinds, or leave them out for a milder patty.
  • Plain breadcrumbs: This helps the filling stay together and have a consistent texture.
  • Seasoning: Paprika, salt, black pepper, and ground allspice create a well-balanced flavor profile.
  • Water: Keeps the filling moist and juicy and stops it from drying out.
  • Garlic: Freshly minced or grated garlic adds aroma and depth of flavor.
  • Ketchup: Ketchup improves the overall flavor and adds a hint of sweetness.
  • Browning: Provides a beef mixture with a rich brown color.
  • Beef bouillon: Beef bouillon is an important part of the dish because it adds saltiness and umami.
  • Salted butter: Adds more flavor and richness to the dish as a whole.

For the Crust:

  • All-Purpose Flour: Forms the main structure of the patty crust.
  • Salt and sugar: Salt and sugar give flavor and balance to the pastry dough (patty crust).
  • Cold shortening: This makes a flaky, layered crust; it should be very cold or almost frozen.
  • Cold Butter: This helps make the flaky, layered crust, and it should also be very cold or near frozen.
  • Turmeric Powder: It gives Jamaican beef patties their traditional golden color. Curry powder can be used to get a similar color, but it will change the flavor.
  • Ice-cold water: It keeps the dough’s temperature low, which leads to a tender, flaky crust.

For the Egg Wash:

  • Egg: Use one large room-temperature egg to make the surface of the patty shiny.
  • Water: Add 1 TBSP of water to thin out the egg proteins and get a glaze instead of a thick egg layer.

Recipe Variations & Suggestions for Jamaican Patties

Vegetarian Patty: Use Jamaican Callaloo instead of ground beef for a meat-free alternative.

Cheesy Jamaican Beef Patty: Add sliced cheddar on top of the beef prior to folding the dough to make a cheesy delight.

Spicier Jamaican Beef Patty: boost the amount of Scotch Bonnet pepper for a hotter patty.

Jerk Chicken Patty: Instead of the ground beef mixture, you can use shredded jerk chicken for a unique twist.

Turmeric Substitutes: If you can’t find turmeric, you can use curry powder or a combination of both turmeric and curry powder to get the color and flavor you want.

Seafood Jamaican Patty: Add cooked shrimp or fish to the filling for a delicious seafood variation.

Sweet Potato Jamaican Patty: Instead of ground beef, use a spiced sweet potato filling to make a nutritious and delicious option.

Gluten-Free Jamaican Patty: Gluten-sensitive people can use a gluten-free flour blend instead of all-purpose flour in the crust.

Mini Jamaican Patties: Make smaller, bite-sized patties perfect for parties and appetizers.

  • 2 sprigs of Thyme roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves on Garlic, minced
  • 1 Scotch Bonnet Pepper, chopped
  • 1 tsp of Paprika
  • 1/3 tsp of Ground Allspice
  • 1 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp of Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 cube of Beef Bouillon
  • 1 TBSP of Salted Butter
  • 2 TBSP of Ketchup
  • 2 ½ tsp of Browning
  • 1/2 cup Plain Breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups of Water
  • 1 Tbsp of Hoisin Sauce (Optional)

For the Crust

  • 4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 ½ tsp of Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp of Granulated Sugar (Brown or White)
  • 1 ½ tsp of Salt
  • 1 cup of Cold Shortening
  • 1/2 cup of Cold Salted Butter
  • 1 cup of Ice-Cold Water

For the Egg Wash

  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 Tbsp of Water

Instructions

For the filling:

  • Pour olive oil into a large pan and heat it on medium-high. Add the ground beef, breaking up any big chunks and stirring it occasionally until it is browned. If you need to, drain the fat. Make room in the middle of the pan and add the onions, garlic, thyme, and escallion. Sauté and mix with the ground beef.
  • Pour in 2 cups water and season the meat mixture with paprika, allspice, salt, black pepper, beef bouillon, and Scotch bonnet pepper. Add (optional) ketchup, browning, and hoisin sauce.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer until the liquid is reduced by half and forms a thick sauce. Add the breadcrumbs, turn off the heat, and let it cool entirely.

Crust (Pastry Dough) and Assembly:

  • Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and turmeric powder in a large bowl using a whisk.
  • Cut shortening and butter into small cubes and add them to the flour mixture.
  • Use a dough cutter, a fork, or your fingers to combine the fat and flour into a crumbly mixture quickly. If the dough gets too warm, put it in the refrigerator to cool.
  • Mix in enough ice-cold water to make a dough, then move it to a lightly floured surface and knead lightly until smooth. Wrap in plastic and put in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Do not overwork the dough.
  • Roll out the dough that has been in the fridge until it is about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface, and use a bowl to cut out circles that are 4 to 6 inches in diameter. Put 2 or 3 tablespoons of meat filling on one side of each round, leaving a 1/2-inch border around it. Fold the other side of the dough over the filling, and then use a fork to seal the edges together.
  • Mix the egg and water with a whisk.
  • Place patties on a baking sheet that has been prepared, lightly brush each one with egg wash, and bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the tops are golden and lightly browned. Let it cool for 5 minutes, then serve it immediately and enjoy the flavor!
