Deliciously Soft Brioche French Bread Recipe

This heavenly, buttery bread is a staple in French cuisine and is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or as a snack. Its soft and fluffy texture pairs perfectly with sweet and savory spreads, making it a versatile choice for any meal.

Ingredients – ½ cup plus ½ Tbsp of lukewarm milk (95-105°F) – 1 cup room temperature butter, cut into cubes – 2 ½ tsp of yeast, instant or active dried yeast – 4 Tbsp of sugar, granulated – 5 cups of all-purpose flour – 1 ½ teaspoon salt – 5 eggs, large (or 6 smaller ones)

Mix yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar into milk in a stand mixer with a dough hook. Let it sit for 5 minutes . Put the rest of the sugar, the eggs, the flour, and the salt in the mixer. Mix on low until you get a thick, slightly sticky dough.

Add the butter a cube or two at a time Turn the mixer to medium and continue mixing until the dough starts to get stronger and come together. Mix the dough for at least 15 minutes.

Once the dough is ready, take it out of the bowl and form it into a smooth ball. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. Gently deflate your dough and shape it into a ball. Cover it using plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.

Cut a portion of the dough into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long roll about 10 inches long. Braid the three lengths together, tucking in the ends, and put the braided dough in the pan that has been lined.

Let the formed bread rise in a warm place until it's doubled in size, which should take about 2 hours

Heat the oven to 390 F (200 C). In a bowl, mix an egg with a tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over the top of the dough. Bake the bread for about 30 minutes or until it turns a deep golden brown.
